Polymers and Rubbers
*
Plasticizers:
Additives that increase polymer flexibility, durability, and processability by reducing intermolecular forces. Commonly used with PVC to lower glass transition temperature.
Extrusion Grade: Flexible films, cables/wires, flooring, and synthetic leather.
Injection Grade: Soft-touch grips, medical tubing, seals, and automotive interiors.
*
Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE):
Thermoplastic with branched chains, offering high impact strength, chemical resistance, and flexibility. Easy to process via extrusion or molding. It's commonly used in packaging, films, and various molded products due to its flexibility, moisture resistance, and chemical inertness.
Extrusion Grade: Packaging films, squeeze bottles, agricultural mulch, and coatings.
Injection Grade: Lightweight containers, caps, toys, and laboratory equipment.
*
High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE):
Linear polymer with high strength-to-density ratio, excellent moisture resistance, and toughness. Suitable for rigid applications. Extrusion Grade: Pipes, geomembranes, fuel tanks, and blow-molded drums. Injection Grade: Crates, pallets, household goods, and food packaging.
*
LLDPE (Linear Low-Density Polyethylene):
Flexible copolymer with superior tensile strength and puncture resistance vs. LDPE. Enhanced stress-crack resistance. Extrusion Grade: Stretch films, industrial liners, irrigation pipes, and pouches. Injection Grade: Thin-walled containers, lids, and caps for consumer packaging.
*
Polypropylene (PP):
Versatile, fatigue-resistant thermoplastic with high chemical/thermal stability. Available in homopolymer/copolymer variants. Extrusion Grade: BOPP films, fibers (carpets/geotextiles), sheets, and automotive trims. Injection Grade: Medical devices, furniture, battery cases, and food containers.
*
Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC):
Amorphous thermoplastic customizable from rigid to flexible forms. Inherently flame-retardant and cost-effective. Extrusion Grade: Window profiles, pipes, fencing, and medical tubing. Injection Grade: Plumbing fittings, electrical housings, and footwear components.
*
Antioxidants:
Additives inhibiting polymer degradation from oxidation/heat during processing and end-use. Extend product lifespan. Extrusion Grade: Stabilizer for films, pipes, and cables exposed to UV/thermal stress. Injection Grade: Protection for automotive parts, packaging, and consumer goods against aging.
